In my recent series of paintings I am exploring the connection between humans and their natural environment. By exploring artistic outlets using a variety of media such as wax, oils, graphite, sand and feathers I am building layers that connect my work with the matter that helped to inspire it. I am interested in the idea of time speaking through nature. As the seasons change so does the texture and motion of our world. How do we experience these changes if we are in the country as opposed to the city? How might we experience these shifts under the sea? As human beings we are deeply connected to our environment. The Circadian rhythm keeps us on a daily 24-hour activity cycle. The four seasons provide us with a wide range of change and these changes can effect us emotionally. Nature and human emotion are complex layers that ebb and flow with time. It is my aim to internalize these concepts and express them in the images I create.
