Marleon Hefer studied BA Fine Arts (Hons) at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She has participated in various exhibitions and was a finalist for the 2007 Absa L’Atelier Art Awards. Marleon's work explores themes of identity and memory and how they co-exist within one’s culture, religion and history. Hailing from a country laden with political and emotional baggage, the artist often adopts South Africa as a backdrop on canvas. This is especially evident when conveying personal interpretations of loss and gain, love and hate. Furthering her exploration of challenging internal ideals, Marleon has found the theme of belonging seeping into her work since relocating in 2007 to the UK; an environment whose culture, history and politics seem to be just as convoluted as her own. The artist specializes in personal and corporate commissions. Contact her directly at marleonhefer@gmail.com. |
